Artie Goes to the Zoo

A beautiful Spring day in Melbourne, a visit to the zoo and one happy 4 month old boy. One of those days you never want to forget.

Artie wasn't too fussed about the animals but he loved the trees!

Day Trip

I am a firm beliver that a day trip can be as good as a holiday. Hopping in the car and driving to a new place to explore for the day brings Adam and I such happiness. It also helps you appreciate coming back home at the end of the day. So off we went to the the Yarra Valley;

We drove on a brand new highway to get there.

We stopped in at tourist information to talk about the region and got a map which was circled with many, many suggestions and recommendations.

We did a short walk up the Dam wall and through a lovely park filled with colourful flowers, tall trees and miles and miles of green. So much green everywhere we went and blue skies and sunshine. Oh and beautiful wispy clouds,I just can't resist whipping the camera out when there are wispy clouds around.

We ate and drank at a winery and visited a dairy.

We finished the day at the Beechworth Bakery Healesville for a cinnamon doughnut and hot chocolates with marshmallows.

Then we came home exhausted and happy to snuggle up in front of the television with a bowel of soup.

Feeling Blue?

How strange it is that blue is associated with sadness. I was feeling 'blue' earlier this week when there was news from the school that I was teaching at that my contract could not be renewed. I enjoy the job and will be sad to give it up. Today we went on a day trip down the peninsula. We had a beautiful lunch in a winery, we walked on the beach and we visited with family. Today it felt like the whole world was blue. But it was a happy and calming blue filled with possibilities and adventures. I am feeling positive and optimistic about the future and the changes coming up and excited by the possibilities. Enjoy some of my blue.

Blue

Some shots from our day at the Ripcurl Pro Surfing Competition. Lots and lots of blue and the only autumn red (as mentioned in yesterday's post) to be seen was our sunburnt noses after our day in the sun!

welcoming Autumn

Moving to Victoria has definitely changed how we experience seasons. Today really felt like Autumn. The leaves change colour and the air is crisper.

We spent our Good Friday out welcoming the change of season and celebrating nature.

We got lost in a maze.

Admired nature at work...

and the changing colours.

To top of the Autumn feeling we had lunch at a brewery, complete with hot tomato soup, beer, lamb and chocolate. The days are getting shorter and the air is getting cooler. It looks like I will be wearing a scarf and socks to the beach from now on.

the weekend

On the weekend we hopped in the car, forgot the chores and drove away to have a mini-holiday. One thing that is fun about moving to a new state is there are lots of unexplored places to visit. (actually there are lots of fun and new places to visit in our old state but being in a new place helps you get of your behind and go explore!) We drove down to Torquay and walked on the beach, ate fish and chips in the car looking at the fantastic view (the flies kept us in the car). It was a little gloomy but this meant that the beach - and car spaces- weren't too overcrowded.

We also stopped in at Geelong Botanical Gardens on the way home. I love botanical gardens, I find them so inspiring and relaxing. Even makes me want to try my hand at gardening.

Oh yeah, we have also found a place that we will move into next week. It isn't perfect and is very small (an apartment) but we are a five minute walk from the beach, yay. So any gardening that happens will be in pot plants on the balcony!
