new tricks

Artie trying to roll. He has been able to roll from his front to his back since he was 8 weeks old. Somedays, however, he forgets how he did it!

But Mumma's favourite trick by far, at 11 weeks, he learnt to go to sleep by himself without any rocking or fighting! Put him somewhere comfy and he dozes of for a nap. Which means I can do other things while he naps. Although I must admit I end up spending a lot of the time staring at him alseep. But with those chubby cheeks, and that angelic face can you blame me?!

9 weeks

At 9 weeks:

Artie is smiling a lot more (even when he seems grumpy!).

He rocks at holding his head up.
He rolled from his front to his back at 8 weeks old and then proceeded to cry and cry in shock. Since then he has been able to do it without the tears...what a genius!
He likes to be pulled into sitting position (I think this is can be blamed on his grandfather).

He still doesn't like napping in the day but his nights are pretty great (he even gave us a 10 hour stint).

Arthur at 7 weeks

He is cooing and 'talking' back to us.
He no longer seems to have pains and is a lot calmer but still doesn't like to sleep!

He has discovered stretching feels very good and does so for a good two minutes after waking up.
He is very good at tummy time and his head control continues to get better and better every day.

On a side note, things you learn as a parent: the hair dryer and a couple of bounces leads to a sleeping baby!

Happy Father's Day

To my own Dad. I have a new respect for the work and sacrifices you made to raise us. Hope your day is good and not too busy. Thank you for giving us such an awesome childhood and continuing to support us into adulthood! Wish we could be there to have a barbecue with you.

And to the new father on the block. Happy first Father's Day Adam! I have enjoyed watching Adam grow into the role of Daddy. Each day he becomes stronger and more confident in this new role. He is a proud Dad and enjoys playing with Artie. I am honoured to have him on the parenthood journey with me and know that I would have trouble coping without his support (especially on those long night hallway walks!). I am looking forward to seeing him continue to grow and adapt to fatherhood.
My lovely boys asleep and peaceful. Artie is a lucky boy to have Adam as his Dad!

6 weeks old;

and giving lots of smiles;

and laughs!

(not the easiest thing to photograph, he doesn't want to smile at the camera, just at mum and dad!)

Growing

Artie is growing. Compare this shot with
his last bath shot! Look at that cute double chin. His head seems to grow the most!
Adam thinks his brain is getting huge, therefore he is becoming a genius. I guess that is why he has so much to contemplate.

At the moment

I am learning to move at a slower pace and enjoy the moment.
I am trying to let go of things that are just not that important.
I am learning about and from my baby and letting him lead the way.
I am changing nappies, feeding, comforting and when not doing that staring at a gorgeous boy.
I am amazed at how cute Artie's first laugh was, the other day in the bath- making this mamma's heart melt.
I am spending hours dancing and bouncing and jiggling away to ease his new baby tummy pains.

thank you...

thank you very much Great Aunty Laleen! My new outfit is super cute.

Everyone loves it.

Artie 5 weeks old today and growing some good chubby cheeks!

mum as a baby and more of my babe

Here is the photo I mentioned of mum as a toddler. How cute is she? She sent me this photo and I thought it looked just like a storybook picture and tried to paint it in that fashion.
And of course obligatory cute photos of my own babe- because I just can't help taking hundreds of photos. Artie has started looking around with real interest and is extremely good at following objects and will sit under his play gym for a while now.
