wedding favours:kids packs

The sun came up out for us yesterday and today, so we are very happy campers indeed. Saturday we read magazines on the beach for a couple of hours. Today we walked for two hours along the foreshore and through the streets. Adam even spied a very pretty white dress, that we may have to go back and get next weekend. It would be perfect for floating around Italy in!


I thought I would share these favours I have been working on. Since I am quite sure none of the kids coming to the wedding read this blog (if you are a kid coming to my wedding please close your eyes now) I think it is safe and I won't spoil the surprise. The kids are getting their own little treat to say thank you for sharing our day. In an effort to keep them entertained during speeches and the more formal parts of the night I have devised a scheme. There pack will include a puzzle/ activity book, some coloured pens, a bubble blower and some lollies. And if the young ones aren't into it, you may just find me in a corner at the reception colouring in a page or nutting out a crossword ;)

what happened?

the sun disappeared? We had a picnic at the beach planned, with some sandwiches, strawberries, the Sunday paper, books and maybe even pen and paper to do a bit of speech writing. But it wasn't to be. The forecast was wrong, and the hopes from yesterdays sunshine filled day were shattered, as the clouds stood firm and the scarf adorned my neck yet again.

So instead I did some more wedding stuff. Five weeks until we leave for Queensland and Six until we are married. Things are going to plan so far, so fingers crossed this relaxed and well planned wedding will continue to be that way until the day of.

Back to cutting and painting. Oh yeah, and maybe some ironing and marking of papers.

Hmm?

Either it was really warm today or I am turning into a true Victorian?!

The weather report said that it reached only 15 degrees celsius, but it felt warmer. I even had on short sleeves for our outdoor lunch. It feels like summer is coming! Yippee for Spring and the thought of all it brings

growth

Since moving out of home I have realised just how much work our parents do for us. Helping us, cleaning for us, cooking for us, caring for us and loving us. Running a home is such a big task. Parents seem to know the answer to everything. There are still times in my new 'grown up' life, when I think "what is this?" or "what do I do with this?" even "is this okay to eat?"
For example tonight the onion had spurted a growth, like a tiny little city of skyscrapers. I thought about cutting around it, throwing it out and in the end decided to take a photo instead because it fascinated me. I know when I was living at home I could just ask mum or dad and they would have had all the answers (or at least it seemed that way;) I hope in a few more years I will have all the answers, until then I will continue to ponder the mysteries of the onion city growth.

The count down is on

nine weeks to go now to the wedding.
eight weeks untill we leave for Queensland.
nine weeks and two days until we leave for Italy. (not that we are counting or anything)
That all seems so close! Who knows what I will write about on here when it is all over, since it seems to have been a very common topic on this little blog.

I am so grateful for all my family and friends. I have had wonderful people who have helped and supported me, given me advice and encouragement and made the whole process, thus far, relaxing and fun. With all the help I have had more time to do all the fun things: creating, making and dreaming. Oh, and I haven't forgotten about the hubby-to-be, he has been very involved in decisions and planning, and reminds me daily why I want to marry him. Seriously, he rocks.

Planning the moon

...the honeymoon that is. Adam has been sitting here for the last couple of nights, browsing, sharing and choosing accomodation for the trip to Italy.Yay!

So I thought I would share our itinerary.
Three days in Rome
One day in Tuscany
Two days in The Cinque Terre
Two days in Lombardy
Four days in The Veneto
Two days in Emilia Romagna
Three days in Tuscany (yes again)
One more in Rome before we fly out.

I will put a more details up as we arrive at decisions and come to planning conclusions. How I am looking forward to travelling, exploring new cultures and places. Only 12 weeks to go! Is that too many to be counting down ? ;) Nah, never.

PS It was so cold today. It snowed near my work and we had a maximum of 6 degrees celcius. Bbrrrr...Time to have a hot bath and rug up under the covers (and maybe even dream of Italy).

shopping

I went op- shopping. I love op-shopping and haven't really had a chance to do it for so long.Some of my most loved and most worn clothes are second hand (which can be problematic since they are already well worn by the time they fall into my hands!). So armed with my wallet full of cash I drove a little way-a-way to Frankston. And I am very pleased I did. I hit four op-shops in a row and they were all reasonably priced and full of treasures to be found. I also came across one of the biggest op-shop I have ever seen. TWO stories and they were bringing new stock out every 15 minutes! It was like the Myers department store of all second hand shops. Lots of fun.


$30 later I came away with three tops, a jumper, a vest, a pretty coloured plate, an apron, a basket for magazines, two sheets (for a secret, wedding project) and a bag...not a bad day shopping at all.
