Vanuatu: daily routines

In Vanuatu we stayed at a beautiful bungalow at Tamanu...on the beach.
In front of our bungalow were two fantastic sun-beds, just for us.

Which had an even more fantastic view from them.
On which we read, relaxed, listened to music and I even did some knitting (but with 80% humidity and 30 degree days, the knitting was in short bursts only!).
We treasure hunted on the beach almost everyday, which resulted in an excellent collection of shells on our balcony.

After a hard day of swimming, relaxing and beach going, we washed the salt away in the open air bathroom.
After which we made the long trek from our bungalow to the restaurant (behind Adam) and enjoyed a delicious meal.
It was a very nice routine that we got into. With no television or Internet, we really enjoyed nature, talks and relaxation everyday.

Vanuatu: preview

A quick preview from our trip to Vanuatu.

I think I will draw on these images to relax during labour! What a beautiful and relaxing place it was. More pictures to come.

a bit more knitting, and a break

One more knitting project that I finished up today. The pattern comes from 'The Big Book of Kids' Knits' by Zoe Mellor. Now we have a new little addition to our bed.
I changed the face to include some scrap fabric. In part to hide the messy seams, and also just because it looked cute.

I am flying to Queensland tomorrow to visit family and then Adam and I head to Vanuatu shortly thereafter. So things may be a little quiet on the blog for awhile. As I ate lunch today (complete with an umbrella in my juice to get me in the mood!) I planned and dreamt about my holidays. We will be in Vanuatu for a week. It is the first time we have ever stayed in one place for a whole week. We usually hire a car and zoom all over the place. Adam is calling this our babymoon and it involves a week of beach going and relaxing before we have a new little being in our lives.

While eating lunch and reading about Vanuatu I made a list of what I plan to do there and thought I would share:

1. Sleeping
2. Eating
3. Daily swims in the ocean
4. Snorkeling
5. Baby bump bonding
6. Reading
7. Relaxing
8. Playing boggle, cranium, the pig game
9. Drawing
10. Relaxing
11. Enjoying good company
12. Talking
13. Exploring
14. and did I mention relaxing?

I am looking forward to all the adventures March is bringing my way.

more knitting

It is official I have the knitting bug. Being able to read a pattern has opened up a whole new world! And I am eager to improve and take on more challenging projects. I found the cutest pair of baby pants which I just had to try. The pattern is called Baby Bell Bottoms by Alison Hansel. She generously has the pattern for free on her blog.

I didn't have too many problems. There are a few little mistakes, but that is the point of hand made isn't it? I have three other projects cast on. I will have to make sure they all get finished so that I do not have 101 unfinished projects! It really is lucky that my child is due in the Winter.

thank you sewing

With all the knitting my 'Stitch and Bitch' friends are doing for me, I thought it only fair to thank them. So a few home-made- thank-you presents were in order. I made some very easy bags.
All the material and doilies are sourced from second-hand shops. They were very quick to make and fun to choose the colour combinations for each one.
I thought they would make good knitting bags for my fellow knitters.

17 Week...

and feeling like a real bump now!

* On another note our hearts and thoughts go out to all who have been affected by the fires here in Victoria. It has been so sad watching all the devastation and we look forward to the hope that comes with rebuilding lives and homes.
